SECTION 54. Aid to governor in performance of duties

Constables, city marshals, chiefs of police and all other police officers shall, within the respective cities and towns, aid the governor in the performance of his duties whenever called upon, and any such officer who refuses so to do when called upon shall be punished by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than three months.
