SECTION 16. Attendance at sessions of courts

Sheriffs, by themselves or by their deputies may attend any session of the supreme judicial and superior courts in their respective counties, as may be requested by the chief justice of the trial court, and when required, meetings of the county commissioners. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, sheriffs shall not be required to supervise any officers for attendance on the various courts.
