SECTION 67. Agreements for lighting reservations and boulevards; duration; payments upon expiration of contract

The commission may enter into an agreement with any electric light, power or gas company within the metropolitan parks district for a period not exceeding ten years, for the lighting of any part of the boulevards or reservations under the control of the commission, upon such terms as said commission deems most advantageous to the commonwealth. Upon the expiration of any such agreement, if no new contract is entered into between the commission and the electric light, power or gas company, the commission may continue to make payments in accordance with the terms of such expired contract or a schedule of rates filed under the provisions of section ninety-four of chapter one hundred and sixty-four or as ordered by the department of telecommunications and energy under the provisions of section ninety-three of said chapter one hundred and sixty-four, until a new contract has been made between the commission and the electric light, power or gas company.
