SECTION 8A. Superintendents

The chief administrative officer of a house of correction shall be the superintendent. The superintendent, and any deputy superintendents, shall be appointed by the sheriff, or in the case of Suffolk county, by the penal commissioner of the city of Boston, and shall serve at his pleasure, and shall not be subject to the provisions of sections nine A and nine B of chapter thirty, or chapter thirty-one.
