SECTION 16. One day out of eight

Except in Boston, members of the police department of every town which accepts or has accepted the provisions of this section by vote of its city council or selectmen, or has accepted the corresponding provisions of earlier laws in the manner therein provided, shall be excused from duty for one day out of every eight without loss of pay.
